Family-owned and occupying a charming 6-floor building in the middle of the shiniest part of Midtown, Argosy Book is the kind of bookstore that will make you feel like you’ve walked onto a movie set version of an antiquarian bookstore. The service however, is friendly and inviting, as is the selection of books, which skews 100+ years, and includes an incredible selection of prints, maps, letters and documents. For readers of more contemporary works, the basement level is full of newer used books at excellent prices.
