Village Works

These days it’s hard to find the punk rock energy that once embodied Saint Marks Place, but what remains can be found in Village Works. This no-phones-zone houses hundreds of works about New York City culture, from niche books on subcultures in the art scene, to histories on social movements. It’s relatively new still, but has become an essential bookstore for New Yorkers who just love New York. In true Saint Marks style, it’s open late and also plays host to a variety of events and performance nights.
